Harbour Transfer Lines, Cape Town

The project consists mainly of the installation of three new transfer pipelines (26” Crude, 10” Black Oils, and 12” White Oils) in the Cape Town Harbour. Each pipeline measured approximately 650 m in length and ran between the tanker berths in the harbour and the pump station in the ballast area. The project included the decommissioning and destruct of the old transfer lines. These lines used to run large sections over the sea and used to pose an environmental risk. Kantey & Templer was appointed for the design phases, as advisory on the contracting strategy, and also as project manager for the construction phase. Construction started early 2018 and the tie-in activities were successfully completed in October 2019.
