104 Boyes Drive

Kantey & Templer was approached to assist in the design of a multi-tiered permanent lateral support system which is to form part of the access road to a new residential estate. The scope of the project was expanded to include the design of foundation piles to support suspended portions of the driveway.

Located on the foot slopes of the Clovelly hills, the topography was moderately to steeply sloping in terrain
comprising talus material consisting of sandstone boulders in a sandy matrix.

Use was made of several software packages for the analysis of the various cut slopes as well as the pile
recommendations.

A passive lateral support system consisting of continuously grouted, solid bars with permanent shotcrete walling was
designed to support the vertical cuts as well as the historical wall and road located immediately above the site.
